The Maiden Post
Greetings, and welcome to my latest attempt at familial closeness!
It's come to my attention lately that having a loving family is an incredible blessing--one which we tend to take for granted. I know I have. A family is something I'd always assumed would just be there. I have always had one, so I've come to assume that everyone else has one as amazing as mine. However, like absolutely everything else in life, there are no absolutes, and everyone has different kinds of families. It wasn't until I experienced what I have and met certain people that I've really come to realize what it means to be a family (and how great mine really is). Now I have a better idea, and I think it's time to electronically celebrate what we have--in blog form.
I'm starting what I hope will be a fresh medium for us to communicate with each other on a regular basis. I know that those of us who live fewer than a thousand miles apart talk frequently, but I still believe that it will be a good idea to write each other. After all, many of the people I love and see every day still stay involved with each other online. Sometimes internet communication borders on excess, but I think it's healthy to share with each other not only the mere happenings of our respective lives but also thoughts, musings, hopes, creativity, and whatever else we feel impressed to share. I hope we can use this blog to share anything that's in our hearts. Please share what you're up to--your hobbies, your art, your stories, your philosophy, your faith, your witty banter with a cashier at Wal-Mart, or that small but powerful thought you had while you were de-clogging the drain in your tub. Once I get people added as authors (giving them the ability to create postings and to comment on each other's postings), I plan to set this blog to private so that only our family may view it.
I think that our collective contribution will strengthen the bonds we've been given. I have only a few of the family's e-mail addresses, but please let family members know about this blog. I think I have to invite people to be authors, so please invite anyone who's interested to contact me at elindseys@gmail.com or just ask my parents for my number and drop me a line.
